He was so approachable and welcomed any questions and truly helped me learn how to take diagnostic radiographs including CBCTs, panoramic- and periapical radiographs, and interpret them.

His teaching did not stop after we both graduated from our respective programs; he still mentors me with oral medicine, oral pathology, and oral radiology questions frequently and is always of utmost help.

He inspires me to become the best clinician possible by asking challenging questions and promoting constant learning.

Its with great confidence to say that Dr. Tenzin Dadul is an exceptional member to his profession, and to the world.

  • Dr. Thomas Rafaill, DDS, MS (Orthodontics, New York)

When I first met Dr. Dadul, it was his first day as a faculty at Detroit Mercy Dental School. I will always remember how helpful he was that day, and how it was the start of our friendship.

Dr. Dadul gave me application advice and mentored me during my transition from dental school to an orthodontic residency program.

I will always be grateful for the guidance he gave to me, and truly believe that I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for his aid.

    Love you Dr. Dadul!

  • Dr. Preet Jain, MDS, PG (Dip), PhD (RUHS), Professor & Dean

With many feathers in his hat, I could describe Dr. Dadul as an innovator, an accomplished academic, an educator, and a skilled clinician. After knowing him for so many years, a constant trait I have observed is this unwavering enthusiasm to learn and an insatiable hunger to become better than the best. Despite all of his accolades and accomplishments, you will find him very grounded, full of compassion, and his philanthropic work for orphans and underprivileged children, which he has been doing without any pretentious hype, speaks volumes about his persona. The plaudits and achievements did not come on a silver platter, but he has navigated his life's path with perseverance and grit despite whatever curve balls life has thrown at him.

Steve Jobs once said, "We are here to put a dent in the universe; otherwise why else even be here?" Dr. Dadul may not be Steve Jobs, but I am convinced that he will put dent in the universe. He continues to be an inspiration to all of us whose lives have been touched by this prolific prodigy. Here’s wishing him best of the best.

  • Ms. Estella Rodriguez

My name is Stella Rodriguez, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Mercy. I have been working under Dr. Dadul as my research mentor for three years. In those three years, I have grown into the student, researcher, and overall person I am today with his guidance. He is one of the most patient, kindest, and helpful faculty members that I know. He is well respected by students and faculty and everyone that meets him.

When I first interviewed with Dr. Dadul, he saw something in me that I never knew I had. He taught me that the qualities I possess are not just qualities, they are gifts. These virtues may be common, but Dr. Dadul taught me that when these traits are genuine, they are very powerful and will take me very far. Sometimes days will go by where I am doubting myself, but when I meet with him for research, he makes me realize that I can achieve my goals. I always come home from research freshly motivated and ready to keep pushing forward regardless of any obstacle in my life. Dr. Dadul takes the time to know me personally, aside from as a student. Every time I meet with him, we always have good conversations, and he never fails to ask me about my day, family, and if I have any plans after research. He genuinely cares about my well-being.

As a pre-dental student, I have always loved dentistry, but when Dr. Dadul introduced to the research side of it, it changed my world. He has made me so passionate about oral and maxillofacial research, where I know I will want to continue doing research in dental school. My two research projects with Dr. Dadul are the relationship between TMJ-DJD and the spinal cord and zygomatic implant placement via CBCT scans. Both of these have been well respected and appreciated at Wayne State and Detroit Mercy. Learning to read CBCT scans and maxillofacial anatomy from Dr. Dadul has helped me read X-Rays better when shadowing, have better conversations with my periodontist regarding my own CBCT scans, and even identify signs and symptoms of possible TMD in friends and family. The skills I have developed from doing research with Dr. Dadul will help me in dental school, residency, and beyond. Dr. Dadul has also taught me how to effectively give oral presentations and poster presentations during research symposiums, which has helped so much in the long run. Dr. Dadul teaches me how to read the CBCT scans first, and then he lets me practice manipulating the software on my own so I can learn for myself. He always near by when I need help, but he wants me to try first. His teaching style has benefited me because I have become an independent researcher but am not shy to ask for help when I need it.

Dr. Dadul wants to help me to not only succeed in research, but also help me achieve my long term goals of becoming a dentist and perhaps specializing later on. He has put me in touch with amazing students and faculty at Detroit Mercy Dental that have mentored me over these past years. The content I learn from Dr. Dadul’s research is the same content that he teaches to D2 students, which gives me a head start compared to my peers. Additionally, the exposure from being in the radiology clinic has helped me become comfortable with the equipment, which will help me when I am a dental student. He gave me the opportunity to go on a mission trip to India to serve children at Tibetan Children’s Villages, founded by His Holiness Dalai Lama. This experience taught me so much about dentistry and public health. Additionally, Dr. Dadul let me assist in other survey-based research projects, so I can have a stronger application.

Dr. Dadul served as a brilliant faculty member at the University of Minnesota, the University of North Carolina, and mercy dental schools. His passion for dentistry, charisma and patience for teaching, and remarkable research make him a perfect candidate to be a professor and a good leader. It is my pleasure to highly recommend you for this role. He has helped me grow as a student and person, and I am confident he will do the same for the rest of his students and faculty as a professor and compassionate leader.

  • Dr. Nicholas Ostrander DDS (Michigan)

It is with great honor that I write this letter about my faculty, mentor, and friend Dr. Tenzin Dadul. It will be extremely hard to relay with words the reverence I have for Dr. Dadul and to condense all of the positive experiences I want to share in this short paper. I don’t know if my writing skills are up to par for the task. The first words that come to mind when I think of Dr. Dadul are: honorable, kindhearted, dedicated, intelligent, and philanthropic, just to name a few. Throughout my time at Detroit Mercy Dental, as I transitioned from student dentist to alumni, Dr. Dadul was there for me every step of the way. Now as a full-time practicing clinician in a private practice in Milford, MI, I reflect on the guidance and encouragement provided by Dr. Dadul. I can honestly say I am where I am now greatly thanks to Dr. Dadul. I met Dr. Dadul when he was my course instructor during my first year of dental school. I found the content of his course incredibly interesting and I reached out to Dr. Dadul with hopes of him explaining a couple of the concepts to me in more depth. Dr. Dadul exceeded my expectations in every way and over the next four years, continually provided me with knowledge and skills that are beyond the curriculum of dental students in America. Dr. Dadul provided me with hands-on learning experiences and expanded my knowledge immensely especially on the topic of implant planning and restoration. These skills allowed me to hit the ground running when I got into private practice and gave me a competitive edge when applying to offices. While I started the application process Dr. Dadul helped me negotiate and set up my contract and employment and ensured I would enter an office that would value me as an addition to their practice and give me the autonomy I was looking for. Selflessly, Dr. Dadul did all this for me well past the hours he was being paid to work and tasks that extended far behind what is expected of him as faculty. Dr. Dadul shows time and time again that he prioritizes his students and not only wants to help set students up for success well beyond their time at the dental school.

Dr. Dadul changed the way I look at the profession of dentistry. I came into dental school thinking that when I graduated I would be completely on my own. I figured I should try to sponge all of the information I could from my dental faculty when I was in school because I would have no one to ask for help or advice when I was on my own in the dental field. Dr. Dadul has proved me completely wrong in that thought. He has demonstrated time and time again that he is always available for alumni to send him cases or interesting radiographs and bounce ideas off of one another to come up with differential diagnoses. Just last week, I emailed Dr. Dadul regarding a case I saw in private practice and he took time out of my busy schedule to look over the case. I got involved in research at Detroit Mercy Dental, and Dr. Dadul always carried an open-door policy. No matter what the topic, if it pertained to him or not, he would always be there to offer his guidance. Dr. Dadul’s teaching style can be emphasized in one word: Clarity. He was always so incredible at conveying the message with no confusion or guesswork. In his clinical teachings in the radiology clinic, Dr. Dadul was incredibly patient, never gave up on a student, and was never too busy to drop anything and help when asked.

I would like to give my highest recommendation for Dr. Tenzin Dadul for a professor and leadership role in the world. The United States and Mercy University need more Professors like Dr. Dadul. The young minds to come through the university need guidance and mentorship, and Dr. Tenzin Dadul will pour his heart, compassion, and soul into bettering the future of the dental field. I do not doubt that Dr. Dadul will go the extra mile to provide opportunities for students to come, which they would not otherwise receive.

    With my utmost support,

    Dr. Nicholas Ostrander

  • Dr. Mollie Mahoney (University of Michigan)

My name is Mollie Mahoney and I am fourth year dental student at Detroit Mercy. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan and was accepted into University of Michigan’s Pediatric Dental Postdoctoral Program. I have worked with Dr. Dadul in his various radiology courses as well as in the radiology clinic. I reached out to Dr. Dadul as I heard he was an excellent mentor for research and for navigating opportunities after graduation. Dr. Dadul has positively impacted me by giving me priceless advice, opportunities for research, exposure to CBCT analysis, and the opportunity to join him on a once in a lifetime trip to India.

Through Dr. Dadul I have learned to always make time to help others, to be a lifelong learner, and how valuable education can be. He emphasizes to me the values of generosity, altruism, and personal growth. He regularly goes the extra mile for us students by always having an open door and willingness to meet with us no matter how busy his schedule is. I was also honored by him inviting me on a once in a lifetime trip to visit Tibetan refugees and orphans in India and provide dental care which was an incredible learning experience.

My research experience has been extremely beneficial as I was able to gain exposure to CBCT analysis when most dental students only get to learn about CBCT’s. This will help me tremendously in my career. His classes in second and fourth year are everyone’s favorites as they are both informative and interesting. The exposure to CBCT and cutting-edge radiology techniques will help us be ahead of our peers from other schools once we graduate. Dr. Dadul is always willing to help out and teach students in clinic and in his free time with a smile on his face.

Dr. Dadul inspired me to not give up on my goal of becoming a specialist and by pushing me to get more experiences for my resume and providing advice on my personal statement. I have not met another faculty who has been so willing to donate their time and energy to making other students succeed other than Dr. Dadul. I am very grateful for the chance to have met and worked with Dr. Dadul, as well as his generosity in helping the predoctoral students succeed. I could not recommend Dr. Dadul enough for a professor and a leadership role in the United States.

  • Dr. Ila Sayed, DDS (California)

My name is Ila Sayed, I am a fourth-year dental student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry who has had the pleasure of working with Dr. Dadul for the entirety of my dental school education.

Throughout my educational experience at Detroit Mercy Dental, Dr. Dadul has provided me with confidence and support to pursue post-graduate level training. I sought mentorship from Dr. Dadul in my second-year during a time when I was turned away and rejected by my own mentors and advisors. I was made to believe that my goals of becoming an orthodontist were not only unrealistic, but rather impossible. Stripped of my confidence, I came to Dr. Dadul with upmost vulnerability, asking for just pure honesty. Despite knowing Dr. Dadul from just virtual lectures, the respect Dr. Dadul treated his students with, coupled with his humble demeanor lead me to trust in him instantly. Dr. Dadul welcomed me into his office, took out a sheet of paper, and wrote out “Dr. Ila Sayed, Orthodontist” and circled it in the center. He connected five words to the circle and essentially provided me a map to achieve my goal. What took Dr. Dadul one minute and a scrap sheet of paper, changed the course of my professional career forever. He not only provided me support, but he re-instilled my confidence in myself. For this, I am forever indebted.

From then on, Dr. Dadul has dedicated countless hours outside of clinical hours to train me in CBCT imaging, assist me in perusing my research, and mentor me in my pursuit for orthodontics residency. Through his efforts, I have not only completed two research projects within the scope of orthodontics but also earned a certificate in CBCT imaging that has opened many doors for me in my professional career. Having matched into my top orthodontics residency program this past November, I am grateful for Dr. Dadul’s time and support and know that myself, among many other students, look up to Dr. Dadul for his eagerness to help students achieve success.

It’s with my highest recommendation that I support Dr. Dadul’s for Professor and leadership role because he has demonstrated the leadership qualities that would deem him fit for this position.

  • Dr. Alison Yoon DDS (Michigan)

I am so thankful to have met Dr. Dadul during my 1st year of dental school. His vast experience and expertise in radiology and oral medicine have been invaluable in my development as a dental professional. When I approached him during the beginning of my 3rd year in hopes of applying to orthodontic residency, he immediately extended his dedication and mentorship to help me achieve my goal. He scheduled multiple meetings with me to brainstorm research projects and to begin preparing my residency application. And after I delivered him the great news that I had several interviews, he scheduled more meetings to help me prepare for these interviews. I am extremely appreciative of all his efforts and his belief in me, I have no doubt that he will bring the same level of passion and dedication to his role as Professor.

I am writing this letter to express my strong support for Dr. Tenzin Dadul, who is applying for the position of Professor and senior leadership role in the United States. As someone who has had the privilege of being mentored and trained by Dr. Dadul, I can attest to his exceptional qualities and qualifications that make him an ideal candidate for this position. Dr. Dadul has a remarkable ability to connect with students and inspire them to reach their full potential. He has a unique teaching style that is both engaging and informative, making even the most challenging topics accessible to students. He always reminds us not only of the privilege of being able to learn at a renowned dental school, but also that we have the right and the qualifications to be here. I have seen firsthand the positive impact Dr. Dadul has had on students and their success, and I am confident that he will continue to do so as a Professor.

In addition to his exceptional teaching abilities, Dr. Dadul is also a highly respected and sought-after clinician. He consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence in patient care and has a reputation for being a knowledgeable and skilled practitioner. Though he is always pulled in many directions when he is in the radiology clinic, he never fails to kindly and patiently take his time to make sure we understand what we are doing. This, combined with his passion for teaching, makes Dr. Dadul an ideal candidate for the Professor position.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Dadul for the Professor and provost position in the United States. He is an exceptional mentor and clinician who has made a significant impact on my career and the careers of many others. I have no doubt that he will continue to do so as a Professor and dynamic leader. Professor Dadul has positively impacted the University of Minnesota, the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), University of Mercy, and the University of Michigan.

  • Dr. Jacob Flyte DDS (Michigan)

I graduated from Mercy dental in 2021 and am currently practicing as a general dentist in Traverse City, MI. While a student at Mercy Dental, I became acquainted with Dr. Dadul during my second year. I worked on two research projects with him, and he played an integral role in the development of my clinical skills as it relates to radiology and cone beam computed tomography.

Dr. Dadul’s commitment to mentorship and serving others became very apparent over the course of the next two years. His devotion to education in both the didactic and clinical setting helped to promote a positive learning environment that helped all students achieve great levels of success. The lessons he provided on radiology and the use of 4-D imaging benefitted me not only as a student, but also now as a dentist. I utilize the knowledge he imparted to me on a daily basis, allowing me to practice in a more comprehensive manner.

Working personally with Dr. Dadul on the research projects and in the radiology clinic was the highlight of my clinical years at Detroit Mercy Dental. Dr. Dadul not only ensured that I would achieve success in the clinic, he would always go the extra mile to ask me if I was on track to achieving my personal goals, especially as I was preparing to graduate. He was kind enough to write letters of recommendation and speak on my behalf to help guarantee my success as a dentist. Even months after I graduated, Dr. Dadul reserved time in his very busy schedule for me to meet with him at the dental school to review my goals and provide insight about the plan I had in place.

Dr. Dadul not only offered lessons on dentistry, but also on what it means to be human, by treating all faculty, students, and patients with dignity, compassion, and respect. He embodies the key values of Jesuit education – Magis and Cura Personalis. He challenges himself to go above and beyond that which is expected from his peers, maintains the highest level of integrity, focuses on celebrating diversity, and emphasizes caring for one’s inner self. I have never met another individual who has been so successful at integrating these values into their daily practice.

When I met Dr. Dadul as a student, I recognized that his knowledge and clinical abilities were astounding, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have had him as a mentor. I continue to value the expertise he offers as we remain in touch and share knowledge as colleagues. He is an ambassador of peace, togetherness, and compassion. Mercy is so lucky to have an individual who continuously invests himself and his talents into his work at the school. Dr. Dadul has my highest recommendation due to his unwavering commitment to the success of the students and preparing them for the future of dentistry. I would wholeheartedly support his endeavor in professorship and senior leadership without reservation.

  • Dr. Alice Piatkowski (Children's Wisconsin)

My name is Alice Piatkowski, fourth year dental student at Mercy. I had a pleasure being a student of Dr. Dadul’s for the past four years. I was also lucky enough to be a part of Dr. Dadul’s airway analysis research where I learned CBCT and airway analysis.

I would like to recommend Dr. Tenzin Dadul DDS., MDS., MS., Ph.D., FICD for the position of Professor and senior leadership in the United States. During these four years, Dr. Dadul has been very respectful, helpful, and involved in the well- being of his students. I learned a great deal during Dr. Dadul’s lectures and had the opportunity to put the concepts into action during our research together. When working with Dr. Dadul in the radiology clinic, I know that I will not only be evaluated to a high standard but also taught how to improve. It is important to me as a student, to have a faculty that is not only willing to help but also have a conversation about where improvements can be made, and I know that I will receive that from Dr. Dadul.

Not only does Dr. Dadul play a major role as a faculty member at Mercy, but he is also a mentor for many students, including myself. Dr. Dadul helped me with my application process for residency and I am forever grateful for his time and efforts. He values student’s ambitions and encourages students to meet their goals in life.

I am confident that Dr. Dadul will succeed in the position of Professor and executive role at universities across the United States. As a hardworking and passionate individual, he will be a great asset to the university.

  • Dr. Thi Le DDS (Florida)

I have known Dr. Dadul since my second year of the doctoral program when I was enrolled in his DOM 8220 Radiology course. Since then, I have been conducting clinical research relating to cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) under Dr. Dadul’s mentorship. I was also enrolled in his DOM 8421 Cone Beam Computed Tomography and 3-D Imaging course during the Fall 2022 Semester.

I truly enjoyed Dr. Dadul’s radiology courses because his lectures were organized, educational, and interesting. Dr. Dadul’s passion for radiology and his ability to explain difficult concepts in simple terms made his lectures and clinical skill sessions enjoyable to attend. His exams and competencies were fair and reflected the concepts he taught. The knowledge I gained from his courses have been very helpful and applicable in clinic. For example, the radiographic knowledge and skills Dr. Dadul taught me are extremely helpful in formulating the diagnoses and treatment plans for my patients.

In addition to radiographic knowledge and skills, Dr. Dadul taught me the importance of humanistic education, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Dr. Dadul has a humanistic approach to teaching because he genuinely cares about our education and our well-being. Whenever he sees any student struggling or feeling overwhelmed, he would ask “How can I help?” He treats everyone with respect and dignity. For example, Dr. Dadul warmly greets everyone even the janitors. He never makes anyone feel inadequate or stupid. He earnestly wants to help everyone become successful in school and in life. His amicable personality makes everyone feel welcomed. Dr. Dadul’s humanistic teaching style and friendly personality create a very warm and pleasant learning environment for everyone.

Dr. Dadul encouraged critical thinking and lifelong learning. I learned the importance of critical thinking through Dr. Dadul’s courses and my clinical research in CBCT under his mentorship. I learned that critical thinking is essential to accurately assess and treat patients. My research with Dr. Dadul also taught me the value of lifelong learning. Lifelong learning helps healthcare professionals learn new skills, stay current in their profession, and deepen their knowledge. Critical thinking and lifelong learning help me to constantly improve my clinical skills and knowledge so I can provide my patients with high quality dental care. These skills and my research experience with Dr. Dadul are also extremely important in my pursuit of becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

“You don't have to be the best, but you should always do your best.” Dr. Dadul taught me this valuable life motto. I have applied this motto in clinic and my personal life. As a result, I strived to learn as much as I can in clinic so I can provide the best possible care for my patients. My efforts and dedication in clinic enabled me to build and maintain great rapport with my patients, clinic partner, faculty, and classmates. In addition, my relationships with family and friends have improved. I am grateful to Dr. Dadul for imparting this valuable wisdom.

Dr. Dadul is undoubtedly the most caring faculty I have ever met. Dr. Dadul exemplifies the Detroit Mercy Mission Statement of providing excellent student-centered education. When I was a second-year dental student, Dr. Dadul would stay after clinic hours to help my classmates and I practice taking FMS and panoramic radiographs. Dr. Dadul always greeted us with a big smile and happily helped us learn proper radiographic techniques. Even now I still see Dr. Dadul staying late in radiology to help students and residents with conventional radiographs and CBCT. The energy, effort, and time he puts into teaching and helping students and residents are amazing and admirable. He truly enjoys helping people. In addition, I recently saw a student who was distraught because he lost his PSP plates. The plates cost hundreds of dollars. However, Dr. Dadul didn’t hesitate to give the student his PSP plates. The student was almost in tears because he was so grateful for Dr. Dadul’s generosity. I have never seen any faculty care as much about students as Dr. Dadul.

Dr. Dadul willingly and happily helps everyone without hesitation. He helped me and my classmates on several CBCT cases for our patients. We were surprised to see that Dr. Dadul had completed the CBCT reports within several hours after requesting his help. The reports were very organized and thorough. We are so appreciative of Dr. Dadul because he treated us and our patients as top priority. I have also witnessed Dr. Dadul help faculty and residents with the same conscientiousness. For example, Dr. Dadul makes thorough and accurate CBCT reports for the patients. As a result, residents and faculty can make accurate treatment plans and provide their patients with high-quality oral care. Therefore, Dr. Dadul’s conscientiousness is second to none. In addition, he regularly makes follow-up calls to patients to ensure everything is going well. His actions demonstrate patient-centered care.

Dr. Dadul's compassion has no borders. I was a part of the team he formed during the mission trip to India in May and June of 2022. Under Dr. Dadul’s excellent leadership, we treated over 21,600 Tibetan, Himalayan, Indian, Nepalese, and Chinese refugee children at the Tibetan Children’s Villages (TCV) owned and organized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. In addition, Dr. Dadul donated thousands of dollars, essential equipment, and school supplies to TCV. I am very grateful to Dr. Dadul for giving me and other students an experience of a life-time. It was an honored to help provide much needed dental care to so many underserved people.

I truly appreciate Dr. Dadul’s commitment and contributions to four universities; the University of Minnesota, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mercy, and the University of Michigan. I saw him work tirelessly to implement the new CBCT equipment and digital sensors, which have revolutionized treatment and diagnosis at our school. Therefore, the radiology department has transformed for the better due to Dr. Dadul.

I’m very happy that Dr. Dadul received the 2022 Agere ex Missione Award.

Dr. Dadul is the most deserving of this award. Dr. Dadul has received multiple leadership roles in areas of digital dentistry and diversity and inclusion. These achievements are testaments to his leadership, compassion, and humanistic teaching style. I’m very happy and proud of Dr. Dadul for his prestigious leadership and academic achievements.

Among all the countless and wonderful things Dr. Dadul has done, the one thing I will never forget is when he helped me during my toughest time. I was distraught and overwhelmed when my family member was diagnosed with cancer. I contemplated dropping out of dental school to spend more time with my family. Then Dr. Dadul recommended Dr. Stein, an excellent oncologist, for my family member. Now, my family is in remission. During the lowest point in my life, Dr. Dadul gave me hope. He helped to relieve my stress through his calm assurance, unwavering support, and encouragement. Thanks to Dr. Dadul, I was able to persevere. He has gone above and beyond for me and my family.

I am immensely grateful to Dr. Dadul for everything he has done for me. The clinical knowledge, life lessons, and values he instilled in me have positively impacted my academic and personal development. I am a better student and a better person because of Dr. Dadul. I am also thankful to the leaders of Mercy, Dr. Michelle Wheater (Academic Dean) for recruiting him. Many of my current peers and alumni feel the same way. I was initially hesitant to attend Mercy because I didn’t want to be away from my family. However, I never would have met Dr. Dadul if I didn’t enroll Mercy. Therefore, I support Dr. Dadul’s candidacy for Professor and executive role with the highest recommendation.

  • Dr. Mary Jaddou, DDS (Orthodontics), Mercy University

As I enter into my final semester of dental school, and soon to begin my orthodontic residency at my top choice program, the University of Detroit Mercy, I must acknowledge the mentorship of Dr. Tenzin Dadul. Dr. Dadul has had a positive impact in my life in dental school and beyond by teaching me many lessons, such as the positive impact that research brings to our community, the importance of service, and the value that a good attitude brings to group settings.

During my second year of dental school, I began considering my decision to specialize in orthodontics. When I asked Dr. Dadul if he could be my mentor, he responded with the best YES I could have imagined. Dr. Dadul went the extra mile helping me get accepted into residency by reviewing my personal statement, writing a great letter of recommendation, and making me aware of service opportunities around the Detroit area.

I particularly appreciate how Dr. Dadul teaches through class presentations and in the radiology clinic. For example, beyond just showing us different landmarks on a panoramic X-ray, he ensures that we understand what we are seeing. Dr. Dadul does not simply encourage questions, he seems to thrive when asked. He lights up and is always eager to share his knowledge. I can confidently say that I am a stronger student because of Dr. Dadul’s teaching style. Furthermore, Dr. Dadul treats all students with respect. Outside of teaching Radiology, Dr. Dadul is genuine in asking about my life and family. Dr. Dadul has also assisted for my presentation titled “Diagnostic Efficacy of CBCT for Degenerative Joint Disease in Adult Female Population – 4D Analysis.”

In closing, Dr. Dadul has made a positive impact on my life in dental school, and it is my pleasure and privilege to respond by recommending him for a senior leadership role and professor in the United States. Future Michigan and university students will be blessed to count Dr. Dadul as their professor, mentor, and good leader.

  • Mr. Ali-M-Fard, Medical (Michigan)

My name is Ali Maalhagh-Fard, I am a pre-medical Student, and I had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Dadul since my third year of undergraduate studies at the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Dadul has been my research mentor for the last four years, and I have had the honor of helping with the Cancer and Medical Program for Himalayan Refugees under his exceptional leadership.

Dr. Dadul has been an extraordinary guiding force in shaping my academic and personal journey. From the moment I met him, it became clear to me that he had a passion for research and a commitment to improving students' lives. Dr. Dadul’s knowledge, kindness, patience, and leadership have earned him tremendous respect among students and faculty. Through his unwavering mentorship, I have not only grown academically but also as an individual, fostering a strong curiosity and dedication to the field of medicine. Dr. Dadul has inspired me to take on leadership roles and instilled the mindset to pay it forward within the community. I noticed he took a genuine interest in me, not only as a student but as an individual, which creates a fantastic learning environment.

Dr. Dadul's teaching methods, for example, his presentations, are engaging and dynamic, which aids in learning challenging topics. During my time with him, I have worked on research projects focusing on sinusitis and TMJ. Dr. Dadul thoroughly taught and explained how to analyze maxillary and paranasal sinuses by using volumetric analysis and segmentation. The world of technology and medicine became so fascinating to me thanks to Dr. Dadul. I learned that the CT scan is a powerful diagnostic tool. These skills improve my understanding when shadowing physicians and help my understanding of patients, their complaints, and diagnoses as a whole. I am so grateful to Dr. Dadul for teaching me skills that will carry over to medical school, residency, and eventually, as a physician.

In addition, Dr. Dadul has emphasized the importance of lifelong learning. This mindset encourages a medical professional to constantly obtain new knowledge in their field, and always provide patients with the highest quality of medical care. Dr. Dadul has also taught me the importance of independence, trial and error, along with collaboration in the research process. He emphasized exploring the imaging software on my own at first, then guiding me after with our discussions and demonstrations. The approach he taught me was efficient and thorough. Dr. Dadul has helped me instill the mindset of approaching challenges with a positive attitude, knowing that each challenge is an opportunity for growth and eventual success.

Dr. Dadul has continuously shown a great dedication to his students' development and wellbeing throughout my time researching with him. His genuine interest for each student fosters a community where everyone is appreciated and supported, leading to excellent collaborative discussions where we learn from each other's thinking.  My life and the lives of my peers have been marked by Dr. Dadul’s emphasis on empathy, respect, and kindness, which has taught us the importance of these qualities in our future medical careers.

I have learned that Dr. Dadul is a true catalyst, consistently driving outcomes, even in the face of testing circumstances. During the pandemic, despite the challenges posed by remote communication, Dr. Dadul demonstrated unwavering creativity and dedication. He organized regular online meetings to keep the team connected and motivated, while also using various virtual collaboration tools. Thanks to Dr. Dadul’s leadership and ability to find innovative solutions, we were able to not only stay on course during this difficult time, but also prosper.

I was also fortunate to join Dr. Dadul’s remarkable organization that serves Himalayan refugees and underserved communities. As a part of his team, we were able to provide free COVID vaccination, medical, and cancer care in the area. It has been an experience of a lifetime for me and other students involved in this project. Dr. Dadul wholeheartedly embraces the joy of helping everyone he meets and makes a positive impact in every community he is a part of. One instance that really stood out for me was when Dr. Dadul was informed of an urgent case, and he promptly responded with a comprehensive radiology report within 20 minutes. The collaborating doctors were so impressed with the level of detail, organization, thoroughness, accuracy, and timeliness of Dr. Dadul’s report, noting it as one of the best radiology reports they have seen. With student researchers, Dr. Dadul dedicates himself in a similar fashion. He often stays long after office hours and makes time to help other students and me. I am truly grateful for all I have learned from Dr. Dadul.

Throughout the years, Dr. Dadul has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the University of Minnesota, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mercy, and the University of Michigan. • Mr. Caleb Campbell (Michigan)

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Tenzin Dadul for more than four years. Our relationship began when I became actively involved on Dr. Dadul's research team, using cone beam computed tomography on dental diseases throughout my undergraduate studies. Today, I am one of his students attending radiology courses presented by him at the dental school. From the moment I met Dr. Dadul, he instantly became the mentor I have always wanted. He is intelligent, kind, professional, and passionate about dentistry.

Prior to getting into dental school, Dr. Dadul showed genuine interest in helping me achieve my goal of becoming a dentist. For instance, as I progressed through undergrad, we would schedule sessions to monitor my progress and look for new ways to help me stand out. He has also helped me with setting goals and gaining new experiences that benefit me as a student and future professional. Looking ahead, Dr. Dadul continues to help me in pursuing my new goal of becoming a specialist. He has taken time out of his schedule to discuss my potential options and introduce me to other professionals within the field. As a professor, Dr Dadul is a strong communicator and creates an enjoyable environment that promotes student learning. He focuses on collaboration and challenges his students to put themselves in uncomfortable positions in order to experience growth. Most importantly, Dr. Dadul is an expert in his field and that is repeatedly seen in every one of his lectures and clinical sessions.

Researching with Dr. Dadul was my first time interacting with an advanced imaging technique to diagnose dental diseases, and it was an excellent learning opportunity. With my then limited knowledge of dentistry, I recall being incredibly nervous on my way to his office. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see how welcoming he was and willing to teach me new concepts. I got to experience dentistry through a completely different perspective and was exposed to different dental practices including implant planning, nerve tracing, and dental pathology. I was most impressed by how he used teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities to enhance the outcome of his work.

After witnessing how Dr. Dadul interacted with staff, students, and patients, the chance to work with him ignited my interest in dentistry even further. He strongly emphasized the importance of service, which fueled my desire to work in underprivileged areas and become present of the disparities in my own community. He taught me that having a positive influence on people's lives and communities is the most satisfying type of work. Some other values that Dr. Dadul has that are reinforced in my life are humility, determination, and compassion. I aspire to treat each of my future patients with these same values and respect that Dr. Dadul has treated me with. He will be a major asset to your institution.

Dr. Dadul's lecture made us have much better understanding in CBCT and radiology in general. Especially as a dental student I didn't have much exposure in utilizing CBCT when practicing at school. Dr. Dadul's lectures well prepared me for my future practice in this topic.

Dr. Dadul's most impressed words were " You are a wolf, you will become a tiger when you are good at diagnosis!"  The way he taught us was greatly encouraging us to absorb more knowledge in a respectful manner.

Dr. Dadul is always the last one to leave radiology department when he was on duty at clinic floor. We had a lot talk after his work peak. I have known Tenzin for a long time from his days in residency to his current role in academics. My interactions with Tenzin have always been amazing and I have always been impressed with his journey and his humble beginnings in Tibet to his current accomplishments in oral and maxillofacial radiology and his contribution to academics and his humanitarian efforts. He has continuously amazed me with his positive attitude and his enthusiasm to learn more. It is evident from his educational trajectory that he is a continuous learner and values education in its entirety. His recent perusal of a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in Leadership from Andrews University and his most recent accomplishment of a Certificate of Specialization in Leadership & Management from Harvard Business School, Harvard University, are a testament to his learning commitment.

He teaches a very full schedule of courses as evidenced by his CV and he is recognized as a very efficient and knowledgeable teacher both by his peers and students. I am very impressed with his mentorship skills and his easy to approach personality and his pursuits have led to multiple students going on to have very successful careers and all of them only have wonderful things to say about him.

My meetings with him at the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology’s annual meetings have always been a pleasure and I am always happy to see his smiling face and amazed at his humanitarian efforts and his research endeavors.

The help provided by him and his team during the recent COVID pandemic to the people of Tibet are phenomenal, he and his team generously donated ten ventilators, medicines, and valuable medical equipment to many villages. Over 120,000 people have received free medical, cancer, and dental treatment from his team; these efforts are humanitarian par excellence.

Every conversation I have had with Tenzin has been very meaningful and intense discussions regarding radiology, clinics, teaching and patients and innovations in the field. His perspective of the field, the future of the specialty and the paths leading towards the specialty’s success have always been very inspiring and practical.

I have observed Tenzin’s work via the posters, the presentations and discussions he has brought to our annual academy meetings, and he has progressively evolved as a very balanced and well- respected radiologist.

Tenzin is an excellent clinician and an astute radiologist, very meticulous in image evaluation. He is very much a team player, and always shares interesting research articles and useful insights with friends and colleagues.

Aside from his professional productivity and contributions to literature which are most relevant in the existing climate in Radiology and his clinical and teaching responsibilities which clearly exceed for someone in his rank and experience, Tenzin is a wonderful human being, most polite and affectionate and I laud him for being very kind in inquiring about the health and wellbeing of many colleagues especially during the COVID pandemic. It speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. It is rare to come across people with such a kind heart.

I particularly remember him for the respect he has for the senior members of the academy and for the love and affection he has for his peers and students.

Tenzin most certainly would qualify for promotion to full professor and senior leadership role, having carefully evaluated your university’s guidelines and having objectively evaluated Tenzin’s CV, I can confidently say that Tenzin’s CV is very strong and is fit to go up. I recommend him with my highest recommendation and support.

The Buddhist fate brought Dr. Dadul and me together at the dental education meeting! He and I had the opportunity to work together over the years. His altruistic kindness makes him a unique person, educator, and leader.

I am so impressed with his compassion and dedication to global medical outreach and research which make him a special person to emulate. Especially, his leadership style is just what an American writer, Simon Sinek once said “Leadership is not about being in charge. Leadership is about taking care of those in charge.”

Dr. Dadul is a compassionate leader who embraces people with an open heart and relentlessly takes care of those who need his help.

He is truly my brother. Thank you, god!
